The new top-knots

What do you do when you have three-day old hair and no time to style it? You throw it up to a top-knot which may be the only time you would wear your hair in such a manner. Then Chanel’s Fall 2018 ready-to-wear show happened where the models appeared on the runway with their hair thrown up into an up-do. Suddenly ‘undone’ hair was cool again.

Getting the perfectly imperfect bun is surprisingly easy. Simply tie your hair into a ponytail before twisting it into a bun, so that the ends remain loose and messy. If you want to add some texture, go ahead and use some Haze styling powder.

Glossy hair

The ridiculously smooth and shiny “glass hair” started to trend on Instagram late last year and is set to become mainstream this year.

BIG volume

The most common concern for women when it comes to their hair is lack of volume. No wonder there are so many volumising shampoo in the market. That said, some are not satisfied with any regular volume. Introducing the trend for extreme volume as showcased at the Versace pre-fall 2019 runway where Guido Palau used super-long extensions to add gravity-defining height at the roots.”The big hair was inspired by Pierpaolo Piccioli, he wanted to have some extravagance in the hair and we were looking at old ’60s Diana Vreeland Harper’s Bazaar and Avedon shoots,” said Palau. Maybe going that extreme is not your cup of tea so take it down just one notch and add volume.

Lilac makeovers

There is a new “millennial pink” in town and that is lilac. Searches for lilac tresses increased by a staggering 1077 per cent in 2018.
